In memory of
Kelly Groucutt 1945 - 2009
Kelly Groucutt (born Michael William Groucutt) was a vocalist and bass player with Electric Light Orchestra during their most successful recording and performing years from 1974 to 1983 and later ELO Part II from 1992 to 2000. In 2000 ELO Part II became The Orchestra (feat. former members of ELO and ELO Part II) with whom he performed until his untimely death in February 2009 due to a heart attack the day after arriving back in the UK from a concert in Berlin.
In 1982 he released his self-titled, solo debut album, Kelly, an album that featured fellow ELO members Bev Bevan, Richard Tandy, Mik Kaminski and their orchestral co-arranger and conductor Louis Clark. In 2001 this album was remastered and expanded for CD by Kelly and his eldest son Chris Groucutt, now too sadly passed away in January 2017. This CD is still available via this website
During the late 80's and early 90's he formed the band OrKestra with ELO violinist Mik Kaminski releasing the album Beyond The Dream, which also featured former ELO cellist Hugh McDowell, and had moderate success in mainland Europe with the single Fly Away taken from the album.
